Seasonal Vehicle Storage

Tips for those of you that put your car away for the winter:

  • Isopropyl dry gas
  • Fuel stabilizer
  • Battery tender
  • Proper coolant protection
Before storing, pour in a bottle of STA-BIL fuel stabilizer, isopropyl dry gas and top up the tank with fuel. Increasing Tire Pressure to the maximum on the sidewall of the tire can help prevent flat spotting of tires during storage, be sure to readjust tire pressures when vehicle is put back into use.

If the weather is wet, warming up your brakes by dragging them lightly the last hundred yards or so, will help dry the brakes and discs and prevent rust damage on these components during storage.

The storage garage should be dry and rodent free.

The battery should be disconnected and removed from the vehicle or a battery tender (a small inexpensive self-regulating electric charger) should be installed.
